Hello loyal Blogette readers! I can't believe this is my 17th playlist. These are the songs rolling around on my iPod right now; music is the vice that gets me through the day. I make playlists for almost every interesting experience and I am working on my piece de resistance - the final election day playlist! Already got some good tunes that I will be playing throughout the entire day. I want to thank all my loyal readers and supporters. It's getting down to the wire with only a few weeks left until the election. I am a blessed girl living this life and a part of this election. Hang on tight 'cause it's crunch time! xoxox - Meghan

I recently realized that I have not yet shared with you any of my favorite blues music. Blues is one of – if not my favorite – types of music. As I’ve mentioned before, I occasionally deal with insomnia, and so usually play the blues when I can't get to sleep at night. Below I have included some of my favorite blues songs and artists; however, I encourage everyone to explore this genre on your own because there are many, many great artists here to be discovered! Also, B.B. King's "The Thrill Is Gone" is one of my top five favorite songs of all time. We'll be back on the road soon!

I have compiled a list of essential classic songs to help get me through the dog days of summer. I hope it helps you along as well.

I freely admit that I have not always listened to country music. But, recently, with the help of some of my friends who are country music fanatics (especially my roommate from Columbia - thank you girl!) I have become an avid fan. Our recent trip to Nashville reignited my interest as well. Below are some of my favorite songs. I hope you enjoy this mix and continue to submit your country music suggestions!

Here's my "Lucky Number 13" playlist. It was created in honor of the fact that I am missing Coachella (with Prince!!) for a D.C. dinner. Even though things in my life are changing, my love/obsession with music never will. I highly recommend immediately downloading Gossip's "Live in Liverpool"; Beth Ditto's voice is incredible. VHS Or BETA is one of the coolest names for a band and their music makes me want to jump up and dance. The Nick Drake "Pink Moon" album is on list of top ten favorite albums of all time. The first song on my "morning wake-up playlist" is The Sunshine Underground's "Put You In Your Place"; it gets me moving before my coffee does. And, I don't understand why Brendan Benson isn't the biggest musician on the planet right now...

Here's a new playlist of some of the songs shuffling on my iPod. Damian Marley and Nas's "Road to Zion" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Nelly Furtado's "Turn Off The Light" is absolutely incredible and showcases her amazing voice. I'm a big fan of most of "La Pop's" songs and LOVE Joss Stone's version of "Fell in Love with a Boy."

For this playlist, I've selected songs that make me happy, "Have a Nice Day" by Stereophonics; songs that make me want to drive through the desert with the top down, "So Have I for Your" by Nikka Costa; songs that make me wish I was at the beach, "The Electric Version" by The New Pornographers; and, finally, songs that make me wish I lived in another era, Benny Goodman's "Peckin' (From New Faces of 1937)". Also, in my next life, I'd like to come back as Nikka Costa, who's one of the coolest female artists... all of her songs are amazing.
P.S. Big shoutout to fellow Columbia grads "Vampire Weekend"

As a followup to yesterday's "10 Things You Don't Know About My Mom," here's a playlist she created just for the Blogette. It's a good mix of some classics and contemporary selections that may surprise some of you. And if anyone has ever wondered how brave my mom really is, you now have your answer. Do you know anyone else who will admit to having DeBarge on their playlist? Long live the 80's... I guess. Just kidding!

Since we're off the trail this week, I thought I'd post another playlist (yes, they are endless). I have been called out by friends for not including Fred Astaire in my playlists. Listening to his music has been a guilty pleasure of mine since I was a child, and I used to torture my fabulous college roommate by playing it a bit too loud on Sundays. I've included some of my all-time favorites on this list, mixing it up with a little old and new. The Brian Jonestown Massacre is beyond good and, of course, I've included more Elliott Smith. (One my great disappointments is not ever seeing him perform live before he died.) Also, Trini Lopez's version of "Besame Mucho" is one of the best versions I've ever heard. I hope everyone continues to enjoy the playlists.

Yes, the playlists continue! Starting out with one of my favorite bands, The Fratellis, singing one of my most favorite songs, "Chelsea Dagger". The Beta Band's "Brokenupadingdong" is a song I have recently been playing on long bus rides between events. Starlight Mint's "Inside of Me" is a song suggested by a friend of mine and I have had it as the first song on my wake-up playlist for the past week and a half. We wrap things up with Rise Against's "Swing Life Away". The lead singer's voice reminds me of Dashboard Confessional. I want to dedicate this song to a close friend of mine in whose wedding I'm going to be maid of honor next month. I love you guys so much. This song reminds me of how beautiful you are together. Congrats!

Hello Everyone, Yes, yet another Blogette playlist. Little known fact: I am an insomniac and create playlists when trying to fall asleep on the road so if I create them in excess, please forgive. This playlist is a combination of what's been shuffling around my iPod at the moment. Noonday Underground's "Boy Like a Timebomb" will be stuck in your head after one listen, it's fantastic. I have been a huge fan of The Dead Milkmen since high school ever since an ex-boyfriend told me they would change my life. Other additions including Wilco and Siouxsie and the Banshees are absolute musts.
Also, I have been getting my fair share of comparisons to John Cusack's character in "High Fidleity" with my obsession with creating playlists (or in his case mixed tapes) and to that I say: I am unworthy, I will never be as cool as John Cusack. :-)

We're thrilled with all the positive comments about our playlists. They've turned out to be a huge hit on the site and we're glad you guys love them. We've also been receiving some suggestions for music to try so we thought it might be cool to do one based on your submissions for songs and artists. Enjoy!
