"Viewer Mail Volume 12: Love Connection"
POSTED BY MEGHAN

Wow! OK, I had no idea my recent article on The Daily Beast (link here) would have created such a media blitz. Not sure of it's just been a slow news week or something else, but I just thought some people would find my experiences interesting. I was not prepared for the enormous amount of interest and response to this article. It's literally been like being back in the campaign with the amount of traffic we've received. Thanks to all of you who took the time to write in some encouraging words. I'm thrilled to hear all the positive playlist feedback! And I'm more than a little embarrassed at all the date offers, too. Here's a quick sampling of some of the emails I've received over the last few days. Thanks again for your support! I will be updating about other developments later this week!

Christopher from University Park, PA writes:
I just read your most recent article on The Daily Beast, "Looking for Mr. Far Right." I just wanted you to know that you are not alone in your predicament. I too have had far too many similar dating experiences since the election. I cannot even remember how many times I have had to deal with political conversations on a first date, and many more times even before the first date! ...I don't want to waste any more of your time, as I know you are a busy person. However, I just want you to know that you are not alone. Also, remember that someone as beautiful and interesting as you will eventually find someone great. Best of luck to you. ...Keep up the good work. I have greatly enjoyed your writings both on mccainblogette.com and The Daily Beast.

Very nice selection on your playlists! I can see there is more to you than politics.

Looking 4 Mr Right - thanks for sharigng the personal way your dad's candidacy impacted you. It gave me more insight, as a dad, into the life of my 18 year old daughter, who just started college. Candidates for high office and close family pay a high price in our current American society. Americans who pin their hopes on a candidate and even those who don't are grateful to both the candidate and their close family. You made a sacrifice for the betterment of our nation, and I hope you will take pride and joy in your accomplishment. I am sure you will run into someone who will appreciate you just for your sacrifices that make you who you are. Be not shy to share the joys and challenges of your unique American experience.

The article was 100% personality and really had me rolling with laughter at work. I can picture some Ivy League guy trying to get her to wear a pant suit and pearls on the honeymoon night. It is too bad that she is not following the foot steps of the McCains by joining the Navy, that would be a long legacy to fullfill. Thank you for the articles and you definetly would have had all the other presidents daughters beaten on the hottie scale.

I am very impressed with your grace and how candid you are. I accidently stumbled on your blog when a friend told me about the interview you did with your mom on the Daily Beast. You are an amazing young lady. Thanks to you and your family for all your class. I am an Obama supporter, but the more I learned about your family the more I came to admire all of you. I am looking forward to following you here and on the Daily Beast.

Jason from Jackson, MS writes:
Hey I just wanted to say that I stumbled across this. I had no idea that this blog was around, and the avid music fan that I am, I checked out the playlists. I must say that you have a wonderful and very diverse taste in music. I was amazed with all the blues stuff. I don't meet many people in our age range (I'm 27) with such a diverse musical palette. I'm sure there are others out there, but music is the passion of my life, so yea, it's cool to see that somebody else knows about every from blues to punk to alt. country. Anyway, I'm rambling. Keep up the good work on the site. I'll be sure to keep checking back.

I just read your dating troubles story and couldn't stop laughing. The stories are so great. For a guy to be sitting across the table from a beautiful intelligent woman and only want to talk politics. I'll tell you right off that I supported your dad. I respect him for all he's done for this country. But for these clowns to be dating you just to get near him? What is wrong with these people? Anyways, great story, I feel bad I was laughing at what has obviously driven you mad since the election, but it was a well-written piece with a lot of humor. Best of luck in the future.

Anita from Summerville, SC writes:
I am sorry to hear about your dating issues. You writing is refreshing to hear from an insider's view of how politics literally affects your life down to dating. You last line about a Dad running for office made me LOL. Thank you!

Christopher from Brooklyn, NY wrote:
Your playlist post on March 1st was almost perfect. I must say you have an unreal taste in music; go see Trail Of The Dead live.

Jacob from Chicago, IL writes:
Where is Andrew Bird on your playlist??? You're missing out, Missy.

Erin from Salem, MA wrote:
I think what I like most about your blog is not that you are "John McCain's daughter," but you are just a girl in her 20's still figuring the world out. Like me. Your blog is refreshing, I love reading it. Thank you!

Elsa from Houston, TX writes:
Hi! i just read your story on CNN.com. Loved it! I've never been a celebrity follower because their lives are their own. After reading your piece, I was taken back on your thoughts and very much appreciated your outlook. Thank you for sharing... Good luck on dating!

Jeff from Fort Lauderdale FL wrote:
What brought me to your site is that I read the story that was posted re: Your dating life since the election on thedailybeast. It intrigued me how both sides supporters "turn you off" if they talk about politics. I hope you find someone who likes you for you and realizes the most deadly things to speak of on a fist date are politics and religion. Personally I love your musical taste and have a suggestion to add to your playlist "Everybody's Changing" by Keane, have a listen and tell me what you think. ...Take Care of yourself.

Bradley from Annapolis, MD writes:
Great article in the Beast, you really showed some of the rougher parts of how people treat each other dating, and how frustrating it can be, and you have a great perspective as one of the most overt examples of what can go wrong. For alot of people, saying that I am a conservative is an immediate end to any potential. How many great girls have I not had a chance to get to know because they cannot reconcile political differences? I mean, I'm a senior in college and an electrical engineer, and someone thinks the only thing that defines me is politics. I also can't believe that some people are so callous and manipulative to try and use you as a means to meet your father, its pretty ridiculous. Good luck in your future dating!
